ELISE AS A TEACHER:
Elise Behunin graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Brigham Young University in 2012 and is a voice teacher in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has been actively working with vocal students for more than seven years. Click here for information about voice lessons. She has two young boys and has volunteered with both youth and adult music groups.
She also teaches beginning violin and has developed her own violin method book, Super Strings, for young students. The violin method melds traditional violin approaches with fun, child-focused activities.
Elise's propensity for the stratospheric vocal gymnastics of a coloratura soprano was evident from the age of two when she sang along with her mother's flute. These vocalizations prepared her for such roles as Mabel from the Pirates of Penzance, where her voice was described as "lovely enough to melt any pirate's heart" (Standard Examiner, Ogden, 2007). She is especially passionate about French opera, having lived and studied in Paris for half a year and later working for a year and a half as a volunteer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Belgium; there she was able to gain a love for cheese and chocolate as well as perform in choirs and as a soprano soloist.
